AFTER A WINTER WEATHER WAIT, REGION TOURNEYS BEGIN TONIGHT

A number of area high school basketball teams have had to wait four days for their region tournaments to begin due to winter weather; hopefully, it will have been worth the wait as many of those tournaments are set to begin tonight.

Calhoun High School is the host site for the Region 7-AA tournament.  Games will be played today and tomorrow, with semifinals set for Monday and championship and consolation games to be played on Tuesday.

Region 6-A has reduced its tournament to only the top four seeds from each subregion.  Boys’ games will be played today at Trion, while girls’ games will be played at Darlington.  Darlington will be the host of Saturday’s semifinals and the finals on Monday.

Rome High School’s boys and girls teams will see action in the Region 5-AAAAA tourney on Monday.

Unity Christian School’s basketball teams will resume their quest for a GICAA West AA Region title tonight at home.
