PROJECT 1-2-7 SEEKS TO GET FOSTER CHILDREN IN GOOD HOMES
A group of local concerned citizens are banding together to ensure that kids in foster care have good homes. Floyd County 211 Information and Referral Line Coordinator Jim Bradshaw says that the group is called Project 1-2-7 and is comprised of local churches. Bradshaw says that there are more foster children in Rome than there are foster homes; he indicates that Project 1-2-7 seeks to tackle that issue.

ROME EXCHANGE CLUB PLANS ANNUAL NIGHT AT THE MOVIES TO BENEFIT FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER
The Exchange Club of Rome, with the assistance of Village Theatres, will once again hold its annual Night at the Movies to raise money for the Family Resource Center. The event is set for February 16th at Rome Cinemas on Shorter Avenue. The event will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m.; movies will begin at 7 p.m. and will include a list of blockbusters. Tickets are $40 for individuals and $75 per couple. Purchase them through the Family Resource Center by calling (706) 290-0764.

FEBRUARY IS PET DENTAL HEALTH MONTH; MORE ADVICE FROM DR. DAN WITH WEST ROME ANIMAL CLINIC
February is Pet Dental Health Month. As we shared with you last week, Dr. Dan Pate with the West Rome Animal Clinic says that it is important to keep your pets current with their dental cleanings. But with the economy in the shape it’s been, many pet owners are concerned about the cost of regular teeth cleanings for their pets. Dr. Dan says this is a legitimate concern. He says that pet owners should get an estimate from their veterinarian prior to setting up their appointment, so as to gauge the impact it will have on your wallet. Regardless of the cost, your pets’ dental health is important. Dr. Dan says that just like with humans, your pets need to have good dental health to ensure a healthy body.
