STORM RECOVERY, CONGRESSIONAL UPDATE FROM US CONGRESSMAN TOM GRAVES

Written by Elizabeth Davis. Posted in News & Weather

It’s been more than three weeks since the storms that hit Northwest Georgia, causing substantial damage in communities like Adairsville and Gordon County.  Recovery efforts continue in Gordon County, according to US Congressman Tom Graves.  He says he has been really impressed with how people in his home county have stepped up to help each other out.  He says that a fundraiser for storm relief efforts will be held at the Chili Cook Off in Calhoun this weekend.  It is one of many such fundraisers held in the past month.

Graves discussed Gordon County storm recovery efforts on the Wednesday morning edition of Good Morning Rome on WLAQ AM 1410.  He also gave a Congressional update.   He says that on March 1st, the Term of Sequestration will take effect.  The measure was passed about a year and a half ago; it was introduced by President Barack Obama.  It is intended to reduce spending in Washington.

Graves, in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), will host a free tax filing workshop in Rome today for members of Graves’ 14th Congressional District.  The workshop is set for 1 pm until 4 pm in the Coosa Room of the Rome Floyd County Library on Riverside Parkway.  For more information, visit www.tomgraves.house.gov.
