STATE FIRE MARSHALL URGES FIREWORKS SAFETY THIS FOURTH OF JULY

Written by Elizabeth Davis. Posted in News & Weather

State and local fire officials are urging Georgia residents that want to see some fireworks this Fourth of July to see a professional display.  However, there are some fireworks are that are legally available for purchase in the state of Georgia.  State Fire Marshall Dwayne Garris runs through the list of legal and illegal fireworks.  He says that sparklers and fountains that stay on the ground are among those that are legal.  He says that anything that goes in the air, explodes or emits fire balls (like Roman Candles) is illegal.

Garris says that recent dry conditions around the state pose a fire hazard, making it even more important to use caution with fireworks.

If you are interested in learning more about fireworks safety, Garris suggests that you do a Google search on the topic or contact your local fire department.
