ROME BRAVES’ SERIES OPENER IN AUGUSTA RAINED OUT
The Rome Braves’ series opener with the Augusta Greenjackets scheduled for last night in Augusta has been postponed due unplayable field conditions because of heavy, persistent rain in the area. The game will be made up as part of a double header this evening at 5:05 pm, which will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge and www.theridge957.com. JB Smith will go on the air with the pre-game show live from Augusta’s Lake Olmstead Stadium around 4:50 pm.
The Rome Braves currently have a 17-46 record so far for the 2012 season (which will soon reach the mid-way point). The Braves are still in last place of the Southern Division of the South Atlantic League, 26 and a half games behind the division-leading Asheville Tourists. The Braves’ series in Augusta will continue thru tomorrow. They’ll return to Rome for a four game series with the Savannah Sand Gnats this Thursday thru Sunday. Then, it will be time for the 2012 South Atlantic League All Star break.
