The Floyd County Police Department Criminal Investigation Division has announced the arrest of James Ray Convirse, of 10 East Third Street in Shannon, on seven counts of stalking.  According to police, the arrest follows an investigation into complaints from seven local female victims that received numerous text messages which included both vulgar and sexually explicit messages.  The investigation revealed that Convirse picked his victims’ phone numbers from advertisement signs.  Upon getting the numbers, he sent numerous messages to each of the victims and continued to do so after the victims asked him to stop.  It is believed that Convirse may have been sending these text messages for as long as two years.

Other females may have been victimized by Convirse by similar text messages.  The Floyd County Police Department is requesting that any female that feels they have received text messages in this manner to contact either Sgt. Ojilvia Lom at (706) 314-0754 or Investigator Byron McCarley at (706) 314-1862.
