Battle of the Bands Call for Entries

The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority in partnership with Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of Fame announces a call for the entries for the Roman Roast on the River Battle of the Bands Contest. Event sponsor, 95.7 The Ridge, will host the Battle of the Bands contest.

After band submissions have been received, contest judges will listen to all entries and select the bands to participate in the live on-air contest. 95.7 The Ridge will announce these finalists during the Matt D and Mullins in the Morning show on March 22. The bands selected for the contest will have their song played live on air during the morning show. Song submissions will be played on-air each week during the morning show and listeners will be directed to go online and vote for their favorite band. The winning bands from the weekly contests will play live at 333 on Broad on Friday, April 23. The band who receives the most votes at the live performance will play on-stage at the Roman Roast on the River Barbeque Competition and Festival, May 7-8. All bands from all genres are encouraged to enter now through March 17 by emailing a mp3 file of one song sample, the band name and contact information to mattd@theridge957.com.

The first annual Roman Roast on the River Barbecue Competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society and will offer competitions in both professional and back yard categories. The festival will also feature arts and crafts and children activities. 100% of event proceeds will benefit the Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of Fame scholarship fund providing scholarships to children in need for all Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation activities including Challenger Sports & Programs (special needs), youth athletics and youth programs.
