CHAMPIONSHIP FEVER IS BUILDING IN ROME!!

Championship fever is building in Rome as the 2012 Russell Athletic – NAIA Football National Championship is just one night away!  The game will be played tomorrow night at 6:30 pm at Barron Stadium.  This year’s competitors are the Mustangs from Morningside College of Sioux City, Iowa and the Knights from Marion University of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Coaches and players from both teams spoke with the media last night at a press conference at the Huffman Center on the campus of Darlington School.  They discussed everything from their opponents to southern hospitality.

When asked if any of the coaches or players had ever been to Rome, one player spoke up.  Senior quarterback Adam Wiese at one time attended the now defunct Lambuth University and came here with its football team to play Shorter University a couple of times.

First impressions were good overall for the rest of the coaches and players who haven’t ever been to Rome.  Marion head coach Ted Karras, Jr. says he finds Rome to be “beautiful”.

Morningside senior quarterback Joel Nixon says that he’s enjoyed being in Rome so far, mainly because of the people.

Welcome our visitors to Rome by attending the 2012 Russell Athletic – NAIA Football National Championship!  Again, it’s coming up tomorrow night at 6:30 pm at Barron Stadium.  Tickets are $25 and can be purchased through The Forum by calling (706) 291-5281 or (800) 858-7601 or by visiting www.forumevents.org.
