Shorter University will play host to the 2012 Mid-South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend at the newly renovated Maddox Track and Historic Barron Stadium.  This is the first time that Shorter has ever hosted the championships, which are scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, April 27^th and 28^th.  Shorter’s Hawks have their hopes set on nabbing their fifth consecutive conference championship, while the Lady Hawks will compete for their fourth straight conference championship.

Shorter University’s 9th-ranked Lady Hawks softball team split a double header with Brenau in Gainesville yesterday evening.  Brenau won game one 4-2, while Shorter took the nightcap 4-1.  The Lady Hawks will close out the 2012 regular season today in Cleveland, Georgia against Truett McConnell.  The double header will get underway at 3 pm.

In college baseball, the 2012 regular season will draw to a close this weekend for Shorter University.

In news from the Shorter University baseball team, the Hawks have been ranked number 15 in the latest NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.  The NAIA released poll results last night.  This marks the highest ranking in Shorter baseball history, according to a Shorter sports release.

Shorter University infielder Mike Miranda has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week.  The Hawks will close out their regular season this weekend in Montgomery, Alabama against Faulkner.
