COLLEGE FOOTBALL UPDATE; SHORTER UNIVERSITY BACK ON TV THIS THURSDAY NIGHT (AND, OF COURSE, ON THE RADIO)

Shorter University suffered a tough loss to 16th ranked West Alabama 49-7 in Gulf South Conference action this past Saturday in Livingston, Alabama.  The Hawks will continue their tough Gulf South schedule with a match against Valdosta State this Thursday night at 7:30 pm at Barron Stadium in Rome.  Like Saturday’s game, Thursday night’s game will be televised.  It will be the GSC-TV LIVE Football Game of the Week and will air on Comcast Cable channel 35 or in high definition (where available) on Comcast Cable channel 805 in the Rome and Atlanta areas.  ESPN will also provide live coverage on ESPN3.  The game has been designated as “Championship Thursday” as Shorter will honor its teams that won national and conference championships during the 2011-2012 athletic season.

Tune in for Shorter University football tomorrow on 95.7 FM The Ridge and www.theridge957.com.  The 4-3 Hawks will be in Livingston, Alabama to face 16th ranked West Alabama in Gulf South Conference action tomorrow at 4:30 pm.  Coverage will begin with Hawk Talk at 3 pm, followed by the Coach Phil Jones Show at 3:30 pm.  “The Killer B’s” – Jim Bojo and Randy Bowen will go on the air live from Livingston with the pre-game show at 4 pm.

In your local college football update, Shorter University’s Hawks picked up a 37-7 non-conference victory over Ave Maria on Saturday afternoon at Barron Stadium in downtown Rome.  The win was the second straight for the Hawks and improves their record to 4-3 so far for the 2012 season.  A tough four-game Gulf South Conference schedule lies ahead of the Hawks in the coming weeks.  They’ll be in Livingston, Alabama to take on West Alabama this Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm.  The game will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge and www.theridge957.com.
