The Shorter University Lady Hawks fell to defending Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion Clark Atlanta 64-37 in a non-conference women’s basketball game last night at Shorter’s Winthrop King Centre. Karisma Boykin led the scoring for Shorter with 20 points. Last night’s loss was the fourth straight for the Lady Hawks, who fall to 1-4 on the 2013-2014 season. They’ll return to action on December 14th as host to Gulf South Conference rival West Georgia.

Shorter University topped the College of Faith 104-81 in men’s basketball last night at Shorter’s Winthrop-King Centre. It was a back-and-forth match initially with the score tying six times before Hawks took the lead for good with just under five minutes remaining in the first half on a layup from Travis Jones. Shorter increased its lead by as many as 30 points in the second half to eventually wind up with the 104-81 victory.
The Shorter University men’s basketball team will play their last game before the Thanksgiving break tonight at home against a non conference opponent, College of Faith. The National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association will hold their 2013 Victory Bowl tomorrow at Barron Stadium. Kick off is set for noon. This year’s contenders are Azusa Pacific University of California and Greenville College from Illnois. The teams have already arrived and will participate in practices and a canned food drive to benefit the Rome Community Kitchen today.
