In college softball, Shorter University’s Lady Hawks are the NCCAA South Region champions after picking up a 4-0 win over Southern Wesleyan in the championship game yesterday afternoon in Central, South Carolina. The Lady Hawks advance to the NCCAA Softball National Championship Tournament, which will be held May 9-11 at Bluefield College in Botetourt County, Virginia.
Shorter University’s Lady Hawks softball team opened play in the NCCAA South Region Tournament yesterday with a 7-0 win over Southern Wesleyan in Central, South Carolina. The Lady Hawks, the number one seed in the tournament, will advance to the championship game today at 1 pm. They will play the winner of this morning’s third place game between Southern Wesleyan and Point University.

The Lady Hawks are the number one seed heading into the tournament, which is being hosted by their former Southern States Athletic Conference rival Southern Wesleyan. Also in Shorter’s three-team bracket, Point University is the number two seed and Southern Wesleyan is the number three seed. Shorter will open play today at 4:30 pm against the winner of the 2 pm game between Point and Southern Wesleyan.
The Shorter University baseball team lost a non-conference match with Stillman 4-3 yesterday at Shorter’s Robert H. Ledbetter Complex. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 12-20 on the season. They’ll hit the road this weekend for a three game series with Gulf South Conference rival Delta State.
