The 2014 season will get into full swing as area high school football teams take the field this Friday night. While many teams kicked off their respective seasons last Friday night, this week is considered Week 1 by the Georgia High School Association.
The 2014 high school football season is officially here! Many area teams kicked off the regular season this past Friday night; for other teams, their season opener is coming up this Friday night. WLAQ AM 1410 will get you ready for the year in high school football with a rebroadcast of our annual High School Football Coaches’ Preview Shows this evening at 5 pm. The programs, each lasting about 30 minutes, feature interviews with the head football coaches for Armuchee, Coosa, Darlington, Model, Pepperell and Rome High Schools and Unity Christian School. The preview shows will air in alphabetical order and can also be heard online at www.wlaq1410.com.
Friday night lights are set to shine for numerous area high school football teams who will kick off their 2014 season tonight. Among those teams are the Darlington Tigers. The Tigers will open their season at Murphy, North Carolina in a game that will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410 and www.wlaq1410.com. Steve Conrad and Philip Edge will bring you the story of the game and will go on air at 7:15 pm. Kick off is slated for 7:30 pm.

They will air on Sunday evening, immediately following the Atlanta Braves at Cincinnati Reds game and again on Monday evening at 5 pm. High school football will return to the airwaves of WLAQ AM 1410 this Friday night as the Darlington Tigers open their 2014 season at Murphy, North Carolina. It will be a season of change for Darlington as the Tigers will be playing in Region 7AA this year.
