The Calhoun High School boys’ basketball team hopes to nab their first-ever state title today as they face Greater Atlanta Christian in the Class AA State Championship Game. The Yellow Jackets will face a formidable opponent in that GAC is undefeated on the season with a 31-0 record. Calhoun currently has a 26-2 record. Today’s tip off is set for 4:45 pm at the Macon Coliseum.
The Darlington Lady Tigers’ season came to an end last night as they fell to Holy Innocents, 46-20, in the semifinal round of the Class A state playoffs, in the private school bracket. Holy Innocents dominated the game pretty much from start to finish and will proceed to the state championship game against Southwest Atlanta Christian on Saturday in Macon.
The Darlington Lady Tigers basketball team will continue their quest for a state title tonight as they advance to the Final Four of the Class A state playoffs, in the private bracket. They’ll take on Holy Innocents at 6:30 pm at Kennesaw State University. If the Lady Tigers win tonight, they’ll be bound for the championship game to be played in Macon on Saturday.
The 2013-2014 season came to an end last night for the Coosa High School boys’ basketball team with a loss at Calhoun, 67-59, in the Elite Eight round of the Class AA state playoffs. Calhoun’s Yellow Jackets are now bound for the Final Four of the tournament for the first time since 2002. They will face Vidalia in Columbus on Saturday night at 8:15 pm.
Some local high school basketball teams will continue on in the state playoffs, while the season ended for others last night.
