Model High School principal Glenn White has been elected as president of the Georgia High School Association. White was chosen to serve in that capacity at the semiannual meeting of the State Executive Committee of the GHSA on April 14th in Macon; he was elected by a unanimous vote of the 58 member committee, according to a Floyd County Schools media release.

High school baseball will take to the airwaves of WLAQ AM 1410 with coverage of the third annual Rome Braves High School Invitational this Friday and Saturday, March 21st and 22nd at State Mutual Stadium. This year, Floyd County schools will be joined in the competition by Calhoun, Darlington, Rome and the defending GHSA-AAA State Champion Cartersville Purple Hurricanes.
The Calhoun High School boys’ basketball team hopes to nab their first-ever state title today as they face Greater Atlanta Christian in the Class AA State Championship Game. The Yellow Jackets will face a formidable opponent in that GAC is undefeated on the season with a 31-0 record. Calhoun currently has a 26-2 record. Today’s tip off is set for 4:45 pm at the Macon Coliseum.
The Darlington Lady Tigers’ season came to an end last night as they fell to Holy Innocents, 46-20, in the semifinal round of the Class A state playoffs, in the private school bracket. Holy Innocents dominated the game pretty much from start to finish and will proceed to the state championship game against Southwest Atlanta Christian on Saturday in Macon.
