Two Floyd County high school football teams will continue their quest for a state title in round two of the Class AA playoffs tomorrow night.

Cedartown and Rockmart are bound for the first round of the Class AAA high school football playoffs after each team notched wins over Pepperell in a pair of mini tie-break games last night at Paulding County High School. The Dragons fell to the Bulldogs 17-0 and then to the Yellow Jackets 6-0. This marks the first year that Pepperell has missed the playoffs in nine years. Cedartown gets the number three seed from Region 5 AAA and will play at Adairsville on Friday night. Rockmart takes the number four seed and will be at Calhoun for a ‘battle of the Yellow Jackets’ in round one of the Class AAA playoffs.
Three area high school football teams are vying for the final two playoff spots from Region 5 AAA. Pepperell, Cedartown and Rockmart will participate in a Georgia High School Association tie-breaker mini-game today to determine who will get the number three and number four seeds in the region. The game is set to take place at Paulding County at 6 pm.
