Area high school football teams will take the field for week six of the 2014 season on Friday night. Perhaps the biggest game of the week locally will involve the Darlington Tigers and the Model Blue Devils. The Region 7AA showdown is set to take place on the campus of Model High School. The Blue Devils have accumulated a 5-0 record to open the season, an accomplishment they have not achieved since 1979, a year in which they went undefeated and won the state championship. The Tigers are 4-1; their only loss was to Murphy at the beginning of the season. Both teams opened region play with victories last Friday night; Model blanked Dade County 24-0 while Darlington downed Gordon Lee 25-14.
