Floyd County Tax Commissioner Kevin Payne reminds all taxpayers that 2012 property taxes must be paid by the end of the day today in order to avoid a 10 percent late penalty and to avoid a lien being placed against the property and property owner.

President Barack Obama will deliver his State of the Union address tonight.  The speech is set for 9 pm and will be televised on numerous stations.  The State of the Union will also be streamed live online at www.whitehouse.gov/state-of-the-union-2013.

Governor Nathan Deal has announced that Georgia’s net tax collections for January totaled $1.73 billion for an increase of nearly $164 million, or 10.4 percent, compared to January 2012.  At the end of seven months, net tax revenue collections are up almost $564 million, or 5.7 percent, compared to the same time last year.
