Shorter University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams split a pair of games with Gulf South Conference rival Valdosta State on Saturday in Valdosta. The Lady Hawks lost by a score of 51-40, while the Hawks picked up a 75-69 victory. Shorter’s basketball teams will return to action this coming Saturday night as host to Delta State. The Atlanta Falcons now know who they will face in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs next weekend. The Seattle Seahawks will be making the trip to the Georgia Dome after beating the Washington Redskins 24-14 in the wild card round yesterday. Kick off between the Falcons and the Seahawks is set for 1 pm this coming Sunday at the Dome. In college football, tonight’s the big night of the BCS National Championship Game. No. 1 Notre Dame will take on No. 2 Alabama at 8 pm in Miami, Florida. The game will be televised on ESPN.
In other college football news, UGA quarterback Aaron Murray has announced that he will be back with the Bulldogs next year. He will not leave early to enter the NFL draft. Next year will be Murray’s senior season.
