HAWKS BASEBALL DROP SEASON-OPENING SERIES AT FLORIDA TECH; BERRY LOSES FIRST GAME OF SEASON TO GREENSBORO

Shorter University’s baseball team opened their 2013 season on sort of a down note over the weekend, losing all three games of a weekend series at Florida Tech.  The Hawks dropped both games of Saturday’s double header 4-2 and 3-2 and yesterday’s game 8-4.  They’ll return to action at Georgia Southwestern this Wednesday at 5 pm.

TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF COLUMBIA SPACE SHUTTLE DISASTER IS TODAY

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of the Columbia space shuttle disaster that took the lives of seven astronauts.  Tellus Museum marketing director Joe Schulman says the tragedy and two others in space history had anniversaries this week.  The Challenger space shuttle explosion happened on January 28, 1986, and the Apollo 1 disaster happened on January 27, 1967.

STORM RECOVERY EFFORTS CONTINUE

Recovery efforts continue following the storms that hit Northwest Georgia communities such as Adairsville and Calhoun on Wednesday.  US Representative Tom Graves of Ranger, Georgia is scheduled to give an update on recovery efforts in Gordon County on this morning’s edition of Good Morning Rome on Talk Radio WLAQ AM 1410 at 8:45 am.
