AREA HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAMS EMERGE AS CHAMPS IN REGION TOURNAMENTS

In high school basketball playoff news from over the weekend, the Coosa boys and the Model girls both emerged as victors in the Region 7 AA tournament at the Dalton Trade Center.  Coosa beat Dade County 87-65 in the boys championship on Saturday, while Model took a 35-33 victory from Calhoun in the girls title game.

The Creekview girls and the Chattahoochee girls were the champs in the Region 7 AAAA tournament at Cass High.  Creekview topped Rome 75-56 to win the girls championship, while Chattahoochee beat Woodland 66-58 for the boys’ title on Saturday.

Gordon Lee’s girls and North Cobb Christian’s boys emerged as champs in the Region 6A tournament at Trion High.  Gordon Lee beat Darlington 74-64 to win the girls’ title, while North Cobb Christian took a 70-45 victory from Mt. Paran to win the boys’ title on Saturday.
