Tomorrow is the big day – the Fourth of July!  Looking for something fun to do to celebrate the occasion?  Opportunities abound in Rome and Floyd County. Â
The annual Salute to America at Ridge Ferry Park is scheduled for tomorrow night.  Gates will open at 6 pm.  Music will be provided by the Eighth Regiment Band of the Georgia Volunteer Infantry, beginning at 7 pm.  The presentation of flags and colors is set for 8 pm and will be followed by music from the Rome Sympony Orchestra at 8:30 pm.  Fireworks will begin after the Symphony performance, around 9:30 pm.  The event is being sponsored by the Harbin Clinic and the Rome Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority.  Get details at www.harbinclinic.com.

The Rome Braves will have fireworks after tonight’s game against the Kannapolis Intimidators.  Get tickets at www.romebraves.com.

Cave Spring’s Fourth of July Parade is set for tomorrow at 9 am.  You can watch the parade in the town square or participate by meeting at Perry Farm at 8:30 am.

If you like barbecue on the Fourth of July, there a couple of barbecues to which you may avail yourself.  The American Legion Post Five on Shorter Avenue started their July 4th Barbecue yesterday; it continues today and tomorrow from 10 am until 4 pm.  They’ll be serving up barbecue, stew and all the fixings.

For more information, call (706) 291-2247.  Also, the Model Ruritan Club will have their annual Barbecue and Brunswick Stew Sale tomorrow at the Shannon Scout Cabin in downtown Shannon from 11 am until 2 pm.  Eat in or take out.  Proceeds will go toward the club’s annual scholarship fund and other community projects.
